Art

At High Meadow, we place a great emphasis on the importance of Art and ensure that children have the opportunity to develop a love of art. Our curriculum will inspire and challenge all pupils by the work of a range of artists from different countries and different times; enabling them to become experimental, inventive and creative. Pupils will be critical thinkers – developing a more rigorous understanding of Art. Pupils are taught a skills-based curriculum, with individuality and creativeness flowing through everything they do.

Children will develop their confidence and enjoy producing a range of art through access to a robust Arts curriculum and high-quality resources. Our Art curriculum provides children with exciting and engaging opportunities to develop their skills using a range of mediums - becoming artists themselves. Children learn the skills of drawing, painting, printing, collage, textiles and sculpture. Children will be introduced to a range of relevant works and develop knowledge of the styles and vocabulary used by famous artists.

They will experience real art through visits to art galleries as well as working alongside visiting artists in school. Every child will have their artwork displayed in our annual Arts Exhibition.
