Trip Overview
We are committed to providing enriching experiences for our students through educational trips and outings. We understand that these activities can come with additional costs, and we strive to keep trip pricing to a minimum to ensure accessibility for all families.
To further support this goal, we actively subsidise trips by using funds raised through events such as, discos and school fairs. These fundraising efforts enable us to allocate resources towards reducing the financial burden on families and making these valuable experiences more affordable. To that end the school fully subsidises the Panto trips for all children.
Our aim is to create opportunities for all students to participate in educational trips, regardless of their financial circumstances. By subsidising trips with funds raised through school events, we can ensure that every student has the chance to benefit from these valuable learning experiences.
We believe that educational trips play a crucial role in enhancing students' understanding and knowledge, and we are dedicated to providing learning opportunities outside the classroom.
Whole School Trip Overview
High Meadow Trips and Experiences
High Meadow, we believe that meaningful experiences beyond the classroom bring learning to life and create lasting memories. To enrich our curriculum and spark curiosity, we carefully plan a wide range of trips, workshops, and in-school events that deepen children’s understanding and help them connect with the world around them. Our approach includes:
Educational Trips
These are carefully chosen to complement topics and subjects taught in class. Whether it’s visiting a museum, historical site, theatre, or wildlife centre, our trips offer pupils the chance to explore learning in a real-world context, developing independence, awe, and a love of discovery.
Workshops and Visitors
Sometimes the best learning comes to us! We invite expert visitors to run engaging workshops within school, helping children to dive into a subject in a hands-on and interactive way. These experiences often include drama, science, history, art, or storytelling sessions that deepen understanding and bring topics vividly to life.
Sensational Starters
These are special events or activities at the beginning of a new unit of work. A sensational starter is designed to capture children’s imaginations, hook them into the topic, and ignite their curiosity. It might be a mysterious classroom transformation, a role-play activity, a themed day, or a surprise parcel to unbox – all designed to make children excited and eager to learn more.
Fabulous Finales
At the end of a unit, we might celebrate all that has been learned through a Fabulous Finale. These are joyful moments that bring closure to a topic and give children the chance to showcase their knowledge and creativity. Finales might include performances, presentations, exhibitions of work, or themed dress-up days. They help embed learning and allow the children’s achievements to be celebrated.
To ensure every experience contributes meaningfully to our pupils’ learning and development, we align all activities with at least one of the following 'Three Es':
-
Educational: The activity enhances classroom learning by deepening understanding of a specific subject area or topic. These experiences have clear curriculum links and are designed to consolidate or extend knowledge and skills.
-
Enriching: The activity broadens children's cultural capital by exposing them to new ideas, places, or perspectives that may not be accessible in everyday life. These opportunities help develop empathy, curiosity, and a wider world view.
-
Experiential: The activity provides hands-on, real-world experiences that promote personal development, resilience, and teamwork. These may not be directly linked to a subject but support pupils’ holistic growth and emotional well-being.
By ensuring all activities fall under one or more of these categories, we maintain high standards and purposefulness in our enrichment offer, aligning with both our curriculum intent and school values. Our trips and experiences are thoughtfully connected to our 30 Memorable Moments, enriching the educational journey for our children. Each experience has been explicitly marked, where there is a connection, to highlight its link to these memorable moments, ensuring that every outing contributes meaningfully to our curriculum and values.
